At the Disc Replacement Center of Excellence, our goal is to offer world-class care to our patients and help raise awareness of spine conditions and the options for treatment. To achieve this, our surgeons offer support to Project Walk, a non-profit organization that works to enhance the quality of life for those living with spinal cord injuries. They do this through initiatives such as recovery programs, support, education, and encouragement.
About Project Walk
Project Walk was founded in 1999. The inspiration for the organization came from the life-changing experience its co-founders had with the rehabilitation of a quadriplegic client. Over the course of its existence, Project Walk has grown to be a leader in the development and implementation of research, education, and training programs for those affected by spinal cord injuries. These efforts have touched thousands of people in over 20 countries and on six continents.
In addition to humanitarian aid, Project Walk has published original research in many peer-reviewed medical journals. Their goal is to raise awareness for spinal cord injury recovery throughout the healthcare field. They have also recently added a comprehensive online program that enables people with spinal cord injuries around the world to access information and guidance.
Project Walk depends on the donation of time and resources from countless individuals. There are many ways to get involved with Project Walk, including fundraising walks, rehabilitation programs, and donations.
